THE STORY
The unspoiled and quiet region of Sabina just northeast of Rome is the perfect place to unwind, explore the Roman countryside and indulge in exquisite cuisine. The area boosts some of the finest places to eat out, from simple trattorie to fancy restaurants. Our special favorite, La Vigna, was formerly owned by an internationally renowned olive oil taster. Dining there feels like attending an extended Italian family reunion. On summer evenings, everyone gathers outside for an aperitivo or a dinner at sunset in the picture perfect, traffic-free piazza, which offers panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and nearby mountains.
It’s not rare that in between courses, guests take their drink and go for a stroll around the square so as to fully appreciate the melodic sound of the graceful fountain or admire the evening light play on the ancient stone of the village and on the valley beyond. What makes La Vigna so unique is not so much the delicious food and wine, the awe-inspiring vistas or its authenticity but the fact that this place is exactly what every couple is dreaming about when they think of Italy and La Dolce Vita. Once you get there, you feel like having stepped back in time and you’ll never want to leave.
