Planning your destination wedding in France or Italy amid the COVID 19

April 29, 2020

POSTPONING OR CANCELING YOUR WEDDING

In the light of the coronavirus pandemic, couples from all over the world have been considering to postpone their summer wedding to a later date this year or in 2021.

Here at Nomad Republic, we’ve been hurting for them as we know how difficult a decision it must be. This unprecedented situation has cast a state of fear, confusion and uncertainty amidst lovers who’ve been reluctant to move ahead with their wedding plans. Indeed, while travel restrictions, social distancing and the shutdown of non-essential services have become the new normality in their country as well as at their destination, lovebirds have been facing arduous challenges.

KEEPING YOUR SPIRITS HIGH!

Like everybody else, engaged couples have been left with no choice but to adapt to the confinement and lack of social interactions, adjust their everyday life and work from home. First and foremost, reassuring their guests and helping them re-arrange their travel plans have been the number one items of their extended to-do list. They’ve tackled the situation, even though they had to navigate unchartered territory and bottle up their own doubts around what should only be joyful and exciting times.

Instead of letting the situation drag their spirit down, duos have been starting to think differently, focusing on the health and well-being of their loved ones. Rediscovering the true meaning of love, friendship and the importance of family has definitely been the positive outcome of this COVID-19 ordeal.

OUR ROLE AS DESTINATION WEDDING PLANNERS

Guest experience has always been a critical role for us as wedding planners. We always want to ensure that the guests’ journey is equally unforgettable and dreamlike as the couple’s. Now more than ever, our job is to support and comfort our clients and their attendees.

Making sure the conclusion of these long weeks of planning and synchronizing schedules sees all of them coming together to feast and celebrate love is our priority.

To make this possible, we constantly communicate with our clients. We update them on the challenges at their destination, whether they chose to tie the knot in South of France or Tuscany. Our team keeps them informed about their options, advocate for them and try to ease their burdens as much as they can.

Starting with their venue, we contact every single vendor on their list, negotiate a transfer of services to their new date without penalties. We also re-discuss payment plans, review postponement or cancellation agreements, encourage them to be flexible and supportive, which they’ve been anyhow for a vast majority.

OUR RECOMMANDATION FOR SUMMER & EARLY FALL WEDDINGS

A wedding is a happy and festive event, bringing not only two individuals but also two families together. And above all, it’s a unique occasion to gather family and friends at a gorgeous location chosen by the couple.

Therefore, your special day should be as stress-free and magical as possible.

Beyond the wedding itself, there are other factors to consider, such as the re-opening of beaches, cafés, hotels and restaurants but also, transatlantic travel. For all these reasons and even if at this point we don’t have all the answers, we recommend our international clients to move their date to 2021. Cancelling your wedding would imply losing your deposits, which is not something we’d encourage you to do.

Even if re-arranging everything seems daunting at first, we’ll be alongside and help you make your peace with your decision and get excited again with your wedding preparations.

Needless to say, we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you and your team of vendors posted. In the meantime, do remember that love isn’t cancelled and wedding bells will be ringing again soon!

TAKE CARE & STAY SAFE!

The NOMAD Team
